Reid Named Centenary Competitive Cheer and Dance Head Coach

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary director of athletics and recreation Marcus Manning has announced Ellen Reid as the first Ladies competitive cheer and dance head coach.

"In Ellen, we've identified a talented, innovative, and energetic leader to start a new competitive cheer and dance program," said Manning. "I'm excited to see Ellen share and execute her vision with the support of both the campus and Shreveport-Bossier communities."

Reid spent the past two years as the head cheerleading coach at the University of West Alabama. In addition to her coaching duties, she managed the team's social media accounts and provided logistical support for event operations.

"The addition of competitive cheer and dance is going to bring many positive attributes to the athletic department as well as to the College," said Reid. "Adding higher enrollment numbers, increasing school spirit, and providing another way to win a title for the College has me excited to be a part of Centenary!"

In addition to her coaching duties at West Alabama, Reid worked as a graduate assistant in the student affairs office. She represented the institution at college fairs, helped with the promotional team for Tigers athletics, and assisted in planning, organizing, and working events for student affairs and student life.

Prior to her time at West Alabama, Reid worked as the community events coordinator for the Brazos Valley Bombers collegiate summer league baseball team in Bryan, Texas. She also interned at both KBTX News in College Station and KLTV News in Tyler.

Reid graduated from Texas A&M in 2017, majoring in communication and minoring in journalism. In 2019, she obtained her master's degree in student affairs in higher education from West Alabama.
