Centenary College of Louisiana President Dr. Christopher L. Holoman announced Marcus Manning as the institution's interim Director of Athletics and Recreation on August 22, 2018 and elevated him to the permanent position in February 2019. He will begin his second year with Ladies and Gents athletics for the 2019-20 academic year.

Prior to Centenary, Manning most recently served as Director of Athletics and Vice President of Athletics and Recreation at Maryville University in St. Louis.

As Maryville University's Director of Athletics and Vice President for Athletics and Recreation, Manning led a department of 22 varsity athletic programs, 30 staff members, and more than 400 student-athletes. He also managed the Saints' operating, recruiting, scholarship, and fundraising budgets, helped design and implement two, three-year strategic plans, and established the Saints Booster Club. Manning also assisted in the design, budgeting, and construction of four major athletic facility upgrades, including a new baseball field and soccer/lacrosse field, weight room, and arena floor.

During Manning's tenure, Maryville added NCAA teams in men's lacrosse, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's bowling, and wrestling, and became one of the first institutions in the country to add an ESports program.

Prior to his six-year tenure at Maryville, he worked as the director of membership and legislative services for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) from 2008-2011. In his time with the NAIA, he coordinated NAIA membership applications, oversaw legislative and membership services budgets, assisted in the development of educational materials for institutions and conferences, and served as the liaison to assigned NAIA conferences. Manning also assisted in the initial planning of the NAIA eligibility center and served as the primary legislative spokesperson for the National Office at the Annual Convention and to all print/electronic media sources.

Before working with the NAIA, Manning served as the Academic Coach for football from 2006-2008 at Washington High School and as Assistant Athletic Director from 2003-2008 at Indiana University South Bend in South Bend, Indiana. At Indiana University South Bend, his duties included managing the men's and women's basketball and implementing an initial sponsorship program.

Manning received his bachelors in business management from Quincy University in 1997 and his masters in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports management from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2001. While at SIU-Edwardsville, he completed an internship in the athletic department, which included having a pivotal role in the Cougars hosting the 2001 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships.
