Kirk Grabs Initial SCAC Pitcher of the Week Accolades

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - When half of your 20 outs are via the strikeout and you allow just three infield hits in a win, you stand a good chance to win a few honors.

Senior Kaleb Kirk did just that, striking out 10 (five looking) against Pacific to be named the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the 2018 season.

With the honor, Kirk now has won this accolade for the seventh time in his collegiate career and at least once in all four seasons. Dating back to last season, Kirk is 6-0 in his last six starts with 37 strikeouts and a 1.60 ERA.

In the Gents opener against Pacific Friday night, February 2, Kirk went 6.2 innings with 10 strikeouts and allowed no runs on just three infield hits. Centenary finished the game with a 7-2 win.

The Diamond Gents finish their six game home stand to begin the 2018 season this weekend when they host Belhaven. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. Friday night, February 9 and 1 p.m. Saturday, February 10.
