Gents Baseball Jumps Seven Spots to 13th in First D3Baseball.com Poll of Regular Season

SHREVEPORT, La. - The first regular season polls are out for NCAA Division III basebll 0and the news is good for the Diamond Gents.

In a poll by D3Baseball.com and released Tuesday, February 27, Centenary Baseball moved up to 13th in the nation - up seven spots from the preseason poll, the biggest jump in the nation.

Meanwhile, PerfectGame's poll released Wednesday, February 28, has the Gents still in fourth.

Thus far in 2018, the Gents are 7-2, including a win at #12 UT Tyler February 18. The pitching staff ranks ninth in walks allowed per 9 innings and 11th in the nation in ERA, as both numbers stand at 1.82. The Maroon and White also ranks 14th with 22 stolen bases.

Individually, senior Kaleb Kirk sits second in the nation in wins (three) and 28th in strikeouts (20), while classmate Cole Lavergne is 11th in the nation with two saves. Freshman Connor Lee ranks eighth in the nation with a 10.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Centenary returns to action Monday, March 5, when it travels to East Texas Baptist. First pitch in Marshall, Texas, is scheduled for 7 p.m.
