Tory Carman Named SCAC Male Character & Community of the Week Honoree

TORY CARMAN OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a freshman on the baseball team from Alexandria, La., has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning December 17.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

A biology and pre-medicine major, Carman has participated in numerous community service projects in his short time in Shreveport. Most recently, he and the rest of the Diamond Gents braved the recent cold Shreveport temperatures to host a baseball camp on Monday night, December 10. Admission was a toy that would be donated to the local Toys for Tots of Shreveport. The Centenary baseball team collected more than 100 toys for local Shreveport kids.

Prior to his time at Centenary, Carman was heavily involved with the Key Club and National Honors Society at Buckeye High School that would help assist with numerous service projects in the Alexandria, Louisiana, area. One of the projects include handing out candy to kids at the annual "Zoo Boo" at the Alexandria Zoological Park.
