Diamond Gents Drops Game at LeTourneau, 8-4

LONGVIEW, Texas – The Diamond Gents Briefly took a 3-2 lead after the top of the fourth, but the YellowJackets responded with six unanswered runs as Centenary (12-13-1) fell to LeTourneau (15-9) 8-4 Tuesday night, March 26.

In the fourth with Centenary down 2-1, senior Charlie Allbritton walked and advanced to second on a bunt single by senior Cameron Guin. After a sacrifice moved both runners into scoring position, freshman Brandon Griffin singled in a run to tie the game. A double steal saw Guin swipe home to give Centenary a brief lead.

Junior Cody Crowder added an RBI single in the ninth for Centenary for the final run of the game.

Crowder finished the game 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Griffin added two hits and two RBIs. Sophomore Connor Poche (1-2) took the loss, allowing one hit and two unearned runs in two innings of work.

LeTourneau retook the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth with two unearned runs. With two outs and no one on base, Jacob Faubion was hit by a pitch and moved to third on an error. A Lee Hosie single tied the game. Hosie then swiped second and scored on an error to give the YellowJackets the lead.

Hosie led LeTourneau with two hits, three runs scored, and an RBI. Luke Ludwig (1-0) picked up the win, allowing three hits and allowed two runs to score in two innings in relief.

Centenary returns to action this weekend, March 29-30, with a three-game set at Trinity. First pitch on Friday is set for 7 p.m.
