Diamond Gents Sweep Austin College to Extend Season-High Winning Streak to Six

Shreveport - The Centenary baseball team won both games of a doubleheader over the Austin College 'Roos on Friday by scores of 7-6 and 5-1 to complete a three-game series sweep in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play at Shehee Stadium.

The Diamond Gents (20-13, 10-5 SCAC) won their season-high sixth game in a row and completed their second-consecutive series sweep after doing so last weekend on the road against the University of Dallas. Centenary is now 10-5 at home and has swept three series this season. The 'Roos fell to 7-23 and 2-13 in conference play.

Centenary, which won 10-0 in seven innings on Thursday evening in the opener, will face Southwestern University (15-14, 7-7 SCAC) at home next weekend in the Diamond Gents' final home series of the regular season. The series begins on Friday, April 22 at 6 p.m. and wraps up on Saturday the 23rd with a DH at 1 and 4 p.m. Southwestern has won the first two games of its series this weekend at St. Thomas and aims for the sweep on Saturday. The Gents will honor their 2022 senior class following the 4 p.m. game.
