Alex Miller, Centenary College, Hitter of the Week (Week 3)

SUWANEE, Ga. -ALEX MILLER OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a first-year first baseman from Cypress, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, February 19 through Sunday, February 25. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 3

Miller had a big week for the Diamond Gents as he hit .438 (7-for-16) in four games in Centenary's trip to the West Coast against Occidental and Chapman. Miller belted two homers, smashed two doubles, scored six runs, and drove in five. He recorded a pair of multi-hit games including a season-best three against Occidental on Saturday. He also walked four times and only struck out once in 16 at-bats to help lift Centenary to a 3-1 record last week.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior infielder Cristian Holloway of Trinity led the Tigers to a 3-0 weekend series sweep over Babson College (MA) to open up the 2024 season. Holloway batted .500 (4-for-8) with three runs scored and eight RBI over the three games, highlighted by his Saturday afternoon heroics in a wild 15-14 comeback win. After Trinity yielded nine runs in the seventh, Holloway and the Tiger offense hammered out 10 runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead heading into the final inning. Holloway started the rally with an RBI double early in the inning, then came back up later in the frame and hit a game-winning grand slam that gave Trinity the 15-14 lead. Senior outfielder Timothy Mansell of St. Thomas finished last week with a .385 (5-for-13) batting average, leading the Celts to a 2-2 record last week with wins over Texas-Dallas and Belhaven. Mansell registered a pair of extra base hits, including a home run, added four RBI and two runs scored to go along with a .429 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging percentage.
