Johnathan Brantley enters his 19th year of Coaching and first year on the Centenary staff as the Secondary/Special Teams Coordinator. Brantley spent the 2022 year as Head Coach at Capitol High School in Baton Rouge, LA. Prior to his time at Capitol, Brantley spent 3 years on staff at Louisiana Tech as Special Teams Analyst. During his time at La Tech they had two Bowl appearances (New Orleans Bowl/Independence Bowl) in which one they defeated Miami in the 2019 Independence Bowl.

Brantley’s coaching career got started in 2004 at Grambling State after his football career ended due to injury. In 2005 he coached the Safeties at Grambling State in which they won the SWAC and Black College National Championship. The 41-year-old has 4 years of experience of being a High School Head Coach. In 2017 Brantley also served as the running backs coach at McMurry University. As a player at Grambling he helped put the Tigers back on the national football map as he was a part of the school’s three consecutive SWAC and HBCU National Champs from 2000-2002 under Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams. He is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and American Football Coaches Association.
