Ladies Gymnastics Wins on Beam, Records Big Season Best Score at Rutgers Quad

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Leading off on beam is never an easy thing to do in a meet, but it was no problem for the Ladies Friday night, March 8.

Centenary hit all six routines and scored a meet best ­­48.325 on the apparatus, closing the meet with a season high 47.975 on bars as the Ladies finished the meet with a 192.000 at the Rutgers Quad – nearly a point better than their previous season high. The host Scarlet Knights won the meet with a 194.425, while Bridgeport finished close behind with a 194.125. Towson took third with a 192.800.

Senior Navia Jordan recorded the only top-3 finish of the night for the Ladies, receiving s 9.775 to finish third on beam. Also on beam, junior Cami Bea Austin and sophomore Jerrica Harris each received a 9.675 to finish fifth.

Austin finished the meet with a 9.775 on floor and a 9.750 on vault.

The Ladies also received a team score of 48.425 on floor – their fifth time in six meets breaking 48 on floor.

Senior Tavia Smith and freshman Kendall Sanders finished both broke 38 in the all-around, finishing with a 38.425 and a 38.225 total, respectively.

Centenary concludes the weekend Sunday afternoon, March 10, in a tri meet at Temple with William and Mary. First rotation is set for noon (1 p.m. EDT).
