Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: September 12 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: September 12 Edition

Hey Centenary Ladies fans, it's junior (wow that's weird to say) Jenny Jackson with this week's Gym Talk!

The Ladies have been in full swing with school, flipping, lifting, and running. This last week was a whirlwind of events. It was definitely a week of accomplishments. We had our 1st "dark and early" open gym this week and man was it good to have all the Ladies in the gym together! On Wednesday, we got to do some more flipping with friends. We had our mile run test on Thursday. Last spring the returning team members decided we wanted to be accountable to our gymnastics and our fitness level over the summer heading back to school. We set a goal for our whole team to come back from summer with a high level of fitness so our goal was for everyone on the team (who was able to run) to make a mile run in 7:30 minutes. LET ME TELL YOU HOW PROUD OF THE LADIES I AM!  WE PASSED WITH 100%! It was so good to see how much support and energy we gave each other even at 6:15 am! I think this really showed how determined we are and what a great year it is going to be!

Friday was filled with lots of fun! After a fun open gym and some intense conditioning, we had our annual sister reveal.  We 1st had a scavenger hunt around campus to find clues about our sisters. Then the freshman tried to guess who their sisters were. Let's just say that they aren't the best guessersJ but after many guesses, the sisters were finally revealed. They each got a basket of their favorite goodies from their new families. For y'all to be insiders and to watch the bonds grow, here is who got who as sisters: Kendall Huff and Madison McCary are twins belonging to Kendall Sanders and Jenny Jackson. Lauryn Stiff and Taylor Ann Wilson are Dorothy Mims' little twins. Rose Deshler is little sister to Xian Baumgartner and Sierra Ponder. Leilani Johnson is little sister to Jerrica Harris and Cami Bea Austin. And finally, Lacey Wedge and Kennedy Stephens are twins belonging to Kendall Knaps. After some yummy pizza, we played some games in order to have the freshmen get to know the upperclassmen a little better. All of the uppers came up with random facts about themselves and the freshmen had to guess which one of us it was about. This game is always fun to play: It even helps me learn funny facts that I didn't know! If you didn't already know how talented Kendall Knaps was, she has a talent of being able to talk with her mouth closed. Would you be able to guess which upper has the same birthday as their car? Or which upper must shave their legs to change their sheets? This game always has us laughing and telling life stories. We finished sister reveal by playing a game called Code Names; this was a great game to help us work on teamwork, decision-making, and communication. We had some really great laughs and memories that night!

On Saturday, we got to work for Centenary's annual Book Bazaar. We love volunteering and representing Centenary other than on the competition floor. Also Saturday was the date we chose to show our teammates how we did on our summer landmarks, again, the returners set landmarks last April for us to work on over the summer to have when we got back to school. I must say that you can definitely tell how hard we worked over the summer! Shout out to Jerrica Harris for that new beam series—you're so graceful and beautiful up there! Shout out to Kendall Sanders for being so solid all around! I cannot wait to see you rock your sophomore season! Also, shout out to the freshmen for those base series, way to attack them and get them done!

This past week was a busy but, fun week. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us! I encourage you to keep up with us during this fun and exciting year. I promise you will ALWAYS be entertained! If you want to follow/add us, our Instagram is @centenarygymnastics and snapchat is @centenarygym!

Catch you on the flip side!

Much Love,

Jennifer Ray
