Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: October 17 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: October 17 Edition

Hey Centenary Ladies' fans, its Xian and I'm back for my first gym talk of sophomore year. This week the Ladies had an intense week of practice followed by our annual team retreat and show case.

We started off the retreat with a cupcake bake off. The team was split into four separate groups and each group had a set time to shop and bake. My group, the best group, wanted to do something for spooky season, so we made Frankenstein cupcakes. The cake portion was a decadent chocolate and the frosting was a fresh peppermint to resemble a thin mint. We wanted to get as much detail as possible; for the bolts we used tootsie rolls, for the eyes we used M&M' s and for the hair we used chocolate sprinkles. The other groups consisted of a marbled cake topped with a taco made from a vanilla Oreo and sprinkles, a chocolate cupcake with raspberry filling and a chocolate heart on the top, the final group had a cupcake that looked like a burger. Each cake was then tasted by a blindfolded group member and rated 1-5. Although we may not have won, ours were by far the cutest…. I may be a little biased.

The next day of the retreat we went over our team standards, set our goals and our core covens. This is a time when we can decide what we want to achieve as a team and our common goal for the end of the year. We decided to break our goals down this year; we divided our season into three sections and set goals for each section that would get us to our end of the year goals.  With half of our team being freshman, we thought this would help them understand better what it takes each step along the way to achieve greatness.

We took a break by eating lunch and relaxing outside by the lake playing music and games. Some of the Ladies took the jet skis out on the lake. We made up a team dance, took some naps and just enjoyed each other's company. The Ladies were then surprised by the showing of our new custom competition leo. We have never screamed so loud in our live,s each and every one of us were so excited! After a delicious dinner of chili, chicken tortilla soup and grilled cheese we took it outside to the awesome campfire Mr. Dan build for us and had smores around the campfire. We played a few games around the fire too.  My personal favorite part, I love this time because it's a chance for us to sit back and learn about one another.

We set up our sleeping arrangements and everyone crawled in bed.  Some of us watched a movie and others closed their eyes with dreams of our upcoming season!  The next morning, we had breakfast and were sent off to the dorms to prepare for the show case.

Line up is set and a common goal needs to be hit. Special shout out to freshman Kendall Huff for making two beautiful full twisting vaults and shout out to all the hard work each and every Lady has put in this last week. This weekend was a great weekend to bond with my teammates. I can't wait to see how this team comes together,r we have so much potential that is just waiting to be used.

This is your lady Xi-Pie signing out!
