Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: October 11 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: October 11 Edition

Helllooooo LADIES FANS!!

It's Junior, Emma Lavelle, bringing you this weeks' Gym Talk. The Ladies are currently at home spending time with family and friends, so lets take a look into last week's fun.

On Tuesday afternoon we took time to reset our mind and hearts with youtuber 'Yoga with Adriene.' Adriene guided us through a compassion yoga with a core focus and taught us how to explore our body, our breath, and be present for ourselves. The Ladies have been focusing on being present in the gym and fully embracing the here and now. This week's yoga session was a great way to ground our mind and body as we went through the rest of the week.

On Thursday, the Ladies spoke with our Team Nutritionist Mary Katharine Hutchinson. Mary Katharine is a registered dietician and working at H-E-B. For those of you who are not from Texas, H-E-B. is a big grocery store that fills the hearts and stomachs of all Texans. If you don't eat, sleep, and breath H-E-B, you are apparently doing something wrong…. just joking, but not really. Anyway, let's get back on track here. Mary Katharine taught us the importance of creating balanced meals and fueling our bodies pre and post workout. She gave us a variety of ideas for snacks that are high in protein, high in fiber, and overall, just more fueling. Thank you, Mary Katharine, for speaking with the Ladies and giving us a multitude of great fueling options!!

I want to shoutout the Centenary Theatre Program (CTP) and Dylynn Vinson for putting on a phenomenal production of Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy. Dylynn played one of Dracula's wives and let me just say "Seeeeeester" she was so good. Me, along with Mylia, Hayden, Willie, Izzie, Sophie, Emily, Brooke, Coach Meg and Coach Joseph were so proud of Dylynn's performance and cannot wait to see what the CTP has in store for the remainder of the year.

Friday was filled with celebration and gratitude. We celebrated Coach Joseph's and Amy Foret's birthdays with some delicious cookies Coach Meg made and some Dunkin Donuts coffee. We went to Betty Virginia Park for a sunrise walk and good conversation. Thursday we were tasked to reach out to someone we haven't spoken to in awhile and express our gratitude towards them. Friday morning, we walked and talked, acknowledging those who we are grateful for. As you read this, I hope that you start to think of someone in your life that you haven't reached out to in a while. I encourage you to pick up the phone or a pen and paper and express your love and appreciation for them.

We worked to ground our mind and body, focusing on the present and expressing gratitude in our daily lives this week. Now it's your turn. The Ladies hope to continue our journey of compassion through this next week and season.

Thank you for tuning in to this week's Gym Talk!! Keep an eye out for Olivia Strattmann's Gym Talk next week!
