Kirkendoll Grabs Third SCAC Player of the Week of Season

LAWRENCEVILE, Ga. -Senior Centenary guard Travion Kirkendoll has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday, January 16, for the conference-leading third occasion this season and the eighth time in his Maroon and White career.

In two games, Kirkendoll averaged 22 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and three steals against only one turnover. In the Gents 58-55 win at Colorado College January 14, their first road win in program history against the Tigers, Kirkendoll scored a game-best 20 points with five assists and four steals against only one turnover. With the contest tied at 53, he hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 18 seconds left to give Centenary the lead for good.

Kirkendoll added 24 points on January 12 in a Gents 83-78 loss at Dallas.

For the season, Kirkendoll continues to lead the SCAC in both points (21.9, 36th in the nation) and steals (2.9 11th in the nation) per game while ranking third in assists per game (3.8).

With a split this past weekend, Centenary sits 3-2 in conference play - tying the 2014-15 Gents basketball team for the best start to SCAC play in program history.

Centenary completes the first half of conference play this weekend when it travels to SCAC co-leaders Trinity and Schreiner. Tip against the Tigers in San Antonio January 19 is set for 5:30 p.m., while the Gents battle Schreiner in Kerrville, Texas, January 20 at 4 p.m.
