Harris Nabs First Career SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week Award

Gents Basketball junior guard Cedric Harris received his first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor Monday afternoon, January 21. In Centenary's only contest of the week on Friday, January 18, the Gents moved above .500 in conference play thanks to a 77-56 win against Austin College.

Harris scored 22 points on 9-for-19 shooting (47.4 percent), including a 4-for-10 (40 percent) mark from three - and grabbed 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He also blocked a career high four shots and grabbed a season high three steals to complete the solid all-around game. Coming into Friday's action. Harris only had one steal in the first six games.

For the game, Centenary tied a school record with 11 blocks. It was also the first game the Gents recorded double-digit blocks during the school's NCAA Division III era.

The Centenary basketball teams return to action Tuesday, January 22, when they complete the regular season series with Austin College. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 6 p.m. with the Ladies and the 'Roos.
