Balcerowicz Tied for the Top Spot, Gents Golf Fourth After Day 1 at Hal Sutton Invite

BOSSIER CITY, La. – Junior Reed Balcerowicz led Gents Golf on day one of the Hal Sutton Invite Monday, March 18, firing a 73 and sitting in a three-way tie for the top spot as Centenary sits fourth among 11 teams in its annual tournament.

The Gents fired a 316 (+28) after the first round, five strokes behind Tyler Junior College in second and five strokes ahead of Pomona-Pitzer in fifth. Meanwhile, the Ladies are seventh after a first round 409 (+21). Tyler Junior College leads on the women's competition.

Balcerowicz leads the field in Par-3 scoring (-1) and second in birdies (three), and pars (12). Classmate Brodey Warner is close behind, tied for 14th after a 77 (+5). He tallied the most pars (13) for the day. Sophomore Harrison John (+7, 79) rounds out the top-20, finishing the day tied for 22nd.

Junior Gabe Rodriguez, freshman Ryan Harris, and junior Donald Frazier turned in rounds of 84 (+12, tied for 35th), 85 (+13, tied for 40th), and 86 (+14, tied for 42nd), respectively. Senior Ole Edvard Granrud carded an 87 (+15) to sit tied for 44th while junior Taylor Wells turned in a 102 (+30) and is 53rd.

On the Ladies side, freshman Abby Hayes is fifth with a first round 83 (+11). Senior Shannon Orlopp is 27th (98, +26), and junior Erin Rostro fired a 105 (+33) and is 33rd. Junior Kristyn Peacock finished 38th with a 123 (+51).

The Ladies and Gents golf teams finish the week with the final day of the Hal Sutton Invite Tuesday morning, March 19. Start time is set for 8:15 p.m.
