Ladies Golf Fifth, Gents Sixth after Day 1 of SCAC Golf Championships

BLANCO, Texas – The Ladies Golf Team fired a 411 (+123), while the Gents carded a two-round total of 650 (+74) after the first day of the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the par-72 Vaaler Creek Golf Club Monday, April 22.

Dallas (590, +14) leads the men's championship by seven strokes over Texas Lutheran, while Southwestern sits third after a two-round total of 606 (+30). Centenary is sixth after day one and sits 49 strokes better than Johnson & Wales. Southwestern leads the women's championship with a 315 (+27), 22 strokes ahead of Trinity. The Ladies rank fifth and are beating Johnson & Wales by 189 strokes.

Junior Erin Rostro carded the low round of the day for the Ladies and sits tied for 12th after an 87 (+15). Senior Shannon Orlopp finished with a 99 (+27) and is 20th, while freshman Abigail Hayes is right behind with a 101 (+29) total. Junior Kristyn Peacock sits 24th after a 124 (+52) total.

For the Gents junior Brodey Warner improved eight strokes for round two and is tied for 16th with a 154 (+10) total. Classmate Reed Balcerowicz is 23rd with a total of 163 (+19). Balcerowicz is the only player to eagle the par-5, 587-yard fourth hole in the tournament.

Sophomore Harrison John is tied for 24th, carding a two-round total of 164 (+20). Senior Edvard Granrud improved 13 strokes for the second round on Monday, carding a 173 total (+29) to sit in 31st. Junior Gabe Rodriguez rounds out the Centenary contingent with a pair of rounds of 89 for a 178 total (+34) and is 32nd.

The Ladies and Gents finish the season in the final round of the SCAC Championships Tuesday morning, April 23.
