Men's Golf Wins Louisiana College Fall Invitational

Alexandria, La. - The Centenary men's golf team claimed the team title Tuesday at the Louisiana College Fall Invitational at Links on the Bayou Golf Course as the Gents won their first tournament of the season.

Centenary, playing in just its second event of the season, finished a comfortable 18 shots ahead of second place Mississippi University for Women. The Gents posted a 20-over par 596 for the two-day event.

Gents freshman Richard Polan led the Maroon and White to the victory as he fired back to back rounds of 73 to tie for second place as Centenary's top finisher at 2-over 146.

East Texas Baptist's Hank Crain tied with Polan and Mississippi University for Women's Brandon Walker claimed the indovidual title at 1-over par 145. Centenary senior Brodey Warner (Brookeland, Texas) finished fourth after shooting a 4-over 148 (76-72). Senior Reed Balcerowicz (Crosby, Texas) and teammate Harrison John (Lafayette, La.) tied for seventh place at 7-over 151. Senior and Shreveport native Taylor Wells (C.E. Byrd) tied for 25th place at 20-over 164.

"I am just happy we finally put it all together," said Centenary head coach Emlyn Aubrey. "Four of five of these starters have been working and working so hard over the past three years and they finally put it all together and I am so happy for them."

Polan, Balcerowicz, and John gave the Gents their second, third, and fourth top-10 individual finishes of the young season after Balcerowicz tied for eighth place earlier this month at the John Bohmann Invitational, the Gents' first tournament of the season.

The Gents will next be in action Oct. 7-8 at the LeTourneau Battle on the Bayou in Gladewater, Texas at the Tempest Golf Club. #CTheOpportunity
