Gents Soccer Introduces 10 Newcomers for the 2018 Season

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary Gents Soccer and third-year head coach Kyle Symczak announces the 10 members of the incoming class for the 2018 season.

"I am excited about the class we brought in this year. This is an extremely competitive group who will aid in the positive direction this program is headed," said Symczak. "Several players will have an immediate impact on the field, but the entire group adds depth and competition to the roster. I cannot wait to see these players develop and adapt to the college game."

 

Here is a closer look at the incoming class for the 2018 season:

 

0 Sami Borchalli

Lafayette, La. / Lafayette HS

 

Borchalli is a great shot stopper who had a very decorated career at Lafayette High School. His senior season, he was named First Team All-District, District Defensive MVP, All-Acadiana, and appeared in the All Star Game as a member of the Lions. He also played for the Lafayette Futbol Club Fusion.

The son of Cathy and Kamal Borchalli, he has one sister, Kourtney. At Centenary, he is majoring in biology.

 

26 Wil Escobar

Cypress, Texas / Cypress Springs HS

 

Escobar played center forward and center attacking mid for head coach Jonathan Cox at Cypress Springs High School. According to Coach Symczak, Escobar is an extremely creative player that had more than 15 goals in his senior year. With Escobar's impressive season, he was named All-District to finish his high school career.

 

21 Diego Hernandez

Carrollton, Texas / Hebron HS

 

Hernandez played centerback for head coach Taylor Baca at Hebron High School. Diego also played for a very talented Dallas Texans club, where according to Coach Symczak, he showcased his composure on the ball and terrific defending abilities.

The son of Amelia Hernandez, he has one sister, Giselle. At Centenary, he is majoring in business.

13 Cole Mrozek

Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound HS

 

Played centerback for head coach David Doyle at Flower Mound High School while also playing club soccer for the North Texas Rangers FC. According to Coach Symczak, Cole is a physical player who understands how to use his size and athletic ability.

The son of John and Cynthia Mrozek, he has one brother, Ryan. At Centenary, he is majoring in international business.

33 Patrick Riley

Baton Rouge, La. / Catholic HS

 

Riley played as a goalkeeper for head coach Josh McReynolds at Catholic High School. His senior season in 2018, Riley made the Louisiana All-Star Game, was named All-Metro, and was honored as the Bears MVP. He also received All-District honors in both 2017 and 2018. Academically, Riley also was honored with the Student Volunteer Leadership Award.

The son of Michael and Rachel Riley, he has one brother, William, and one sister, Allison. At Centenary, he is majoring in political science.

19 Cole Schultz

Denham Springs, La. / Live Oak HS

Schultz played forward and midfield for head coach Zack Miller. With the Eagles, he received two First Team All-District, two Second Team All-District, one First Team All-Metro, and one First Team All-State accolade. He also played for the FC Galaxy.

Academically, Schultz finished with a 4.0 or better GPA all four years of high school and graduated with a 4.2459 GPA to finish fifth of 314 students in his class.

The son of Scott and Angelique Schultz, he has two brothers, Colin and Brek. At Centenary, he is majoring in biology.

14 Colin Schultz

Denham Springs, La. / Live Oak HS

 

Schultz played left and right mid and left and right wing for head coach Zack Miller at Live Oak High School. With the Eagles, he received both First Team and Second Team All-District accolades. Schultz also played for the FC Galaxy. Academically, he finished with a 4.0 or above GPA all four years and graduated 11th in a class of 314 students with a 4.16 GPA.

The son of Scott and Angelique Schultz, he has two brothers, Cole and Brek. At Centenary, he is majoring in biology.

12 Cameron Sineni

Frisco, Texas / Independence High School

 

Sineni transferred to Centenary after spending a year at Murray State College. In high school, he played right and left wing and as a striker for head coach Trent Kutch for the Independence High School Knights. Sineni also played club for Solar Chelsea.

Sineni is the son of Monique Sineni and has one sister Gabriela. At Centenary, he is majoring in biology.

15 Jonathan Thomson

Corsicana, Texas / Corsicana HS

 

Thomson played both the defender and midfield positions for head coaches Matthew Loafman and Caleb Coy at Corsicana High School. He helped the Tigers win a District Championship in 2018 while Thomson himself was named Second Team All-District. Thomson also played for Premier FC.

Academically, he graduated in the top 20 percent of his graduating class.

Thomson is the son of Scott and Christina Thomson. At Centenary, he is majoring in business administration.

20 Sethan Ward

6-5 / 175

Prairieville, La. / Dutchtown HS

 

Ward played forward and centerback for Dutchtown High School. With the Griffins, he made Second Team All-State and All-Metro. Ward was also named All-District twice. At the club level, he played for the Baton Rouge Soccer Club.

The son of Angela and Robert and Ward, he has three brothers, Zayne, Deven, and Jakob, and one sister, Meghan. At Centenary, he is majoring in economics.
