Gents Soccer Cannot Overcome Texas Lutheran Hat Trick in 3-2 loss

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Gents were able to pull within one score twice after falling behind by a pair of goals, but the Bulldogs were able to hold on as Centenary (1-2, 0-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Texas Lutheran (2-1, 1-0 SCAC) 3-2 at CE Byrd High School Friday night, September 7.

Luis Green scored a goal in the first half and found the back of the net twice in the second for the hat trick for Texas Lutheran.

With the Gents down two after a Bulldogs' goal in the 54th minute, it took less than a minute for the Gents to cut the deficit in half. Sophomore Gin Pau took a pass left of the box from senior Nick Hammond. Pau ripped the ball far post in the upper 90 of the goal for the score.

After Green completed the hat trick four minutes later, both defenses held serve for the next 25 minutes. In the 85th minute, freshman Wil Escobar founded Pau in nearly the same spot as his first goal. And like his first tally, Pau put the shot in nearly the same spot for his second goal of the game and the third of the season.

Pau finished the game with three shots, all of which were on goal, to lead the Gents. Green took nine of Texas Lutheran's 17 shots, putting eight on target.

Freshman Sami Borchalli grabbed 7-of-10 shots faced in 90 minutes of action in goal for Centenary. Brendan Soto grabbed four saves on six shots faced for Texas Lutheran
