SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary Ladies (8-5) and Gents (1-12-2) Soccer teams will celebrate senior day when they welcome Mississippi University for Women to Shreveport on Saturday, October 13. The Gents will play at 1 p.m., while the Ladies kickoff at 3 p.m.

Liz Knight Plays Her Final Game at Mayo Field
Senior Liz Knight will play her final game in a Ladies uniform Saturday at Mayo Field.
"As a four-year player for Centenary, we'd like to thank Liz for all of her efforts in making Ladies Soccer what it is today," said head coach Greg Cathell. "We look forward to following her successes throughout the next phase of her life and wish her nothing but joy and happiness for years to come."
In her collegiate career, Knight has appeared in 58 games with 38 starts and a pair of assists. In her junior year against Austin College with the Ladies down a goal, she assisted on the equalizer in Centenary's eventual 2-1 win. She also recorded an assist in a 5-0 win against Louisiana College her sophomore season.
Knight, who graduated from nearby Parkway High School in Bossier City, is majoring in biology at Centenary. Following graduation, she plans on obtaining a career near New Orleans or out of state.
Her favorite memory with Ladies Soccer is last season when Centenary hosted the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and advanced to the semifinals after besting Southwestern in penalty kicks.
Quartet of Gents Suit Up for the Final Time at Mayo Field
Four Centenary College Gents will play their final collegiate game Saturday on the Mayo Field pitch against Mississippi University for Women: Andre Anasi, Seth Fountain, Nick Hammond, and Dillon Rogers.
Anasi has played in 64 games in his Gents Soccer Career with 46 starts. He has recorded an assist in his freshman, sophomore and senior seasons, including an assist on the only goal of the game in a Gents 1-0 win at LeTourneau in 2016.
"Andre has filled many roles on the field in his time at Centenary," said head coach Kyle Symczak. "I have called upon Andre to play outside back, winger, and forward throughout his playing career, and every time, he has lived up to the task. I have seen Andre mature tremendously these four years, and I am excited to see him continue to be successful after his time here at Centenary."
A biology major at Centenary, Anasi appeared on the 2015 SCAC Academic Honor Roll and he has also had a creative writing piece that was featured in the Meadows Museum. After graduation, he plans on taking the MCAT and apply to medical school.
With Gents Soccer, Anasi's favorite memory is assisting on the game-opening goal against Southwestern his freshman season. Centenary went on for to win 2-1 for the Gents first ever win in program history against the Pirates.
Seth Fountain has appeared in 46 games in his Centenary Soccer career with 19 starts in three seasons. Fountain has made the most of both goals in his Gents career as both proved to be the game-winning score against LeTourneau. He also has two assists to his credit for six career points.
"Seth transferred into Centenary while I was an assistant, but since his first day on campus, has fit in perfectly with the team," explained Symczak. "Seth has a tremendous work rate and has the rare gift of understanding his role on the field. In his time at Centenary, Seth has become more vocal, displayed passion, and always puts the team before himself. These qualities stretch outside of the field and into the classroom as Seth has been one of the most improved players on the roster as far as academics are concerned. I am thankful that he decided to transfer to Centenary and be such a positive addition to the program."
Fountain's favorite memory is scoring the golden goal against the YellowJackets in the 100th minute in 2017. After a trio of failed clearances by LeTourneau, Fountain finished back post. A year earlier at LeTourneau, he scored the lone goal of the contest in the 71st minute on an assist from classmate Andre Anasi.
A history major at Centenary, Fountain appeared on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll following the 2017 season. After graduation, he plans to move to Dallas and work for the Frisco Police Department.
Shreveport native Nick Hammond will play his last game in a Gents uniform as one of the most decorated players in the Centenary NCAA Division III eras, breaking the career records for goals (14) and points (31) during that time frame.
"Local legend Nick Hammond has shown nothing but commitment to the program these last four years," said Symczak. "He is a person of high character and displays leadership both on and off the field. As a player, he always strives to set a great example and work hard for the players around him. Nick has scored many goals for us throughout his career, but his impact on this program is much more than what he has done on the field. I have enjoyed watching Nick develop not only as a player, but as a person. I know Nick will find success in whatever he wishes to pursue after his time at Centenary because of his work ethic and honest personality."
Hammond's favorite Gents Soccer memories came last season against Hendrix and in 2016 against nationally-ranked Trinity. Against the Warriors, he became the first Gent in 11 seasons to record a hat trick.
Majoring in business administration with a concentration in finance, Hammond appeared on the 2016 SCAC Academic Honor Roll and the Centenary College Dean's List for the spring of 2018. After graduation, he plans to become a financial advisor.
The final senior to be recognized on Saturday is Dillon Rogers. With the Gents since the 2014 season, Rogers has appeared in 39 games with three starts. He scored his only goal of his career against nationally-ranked Trinity to cut the halftime deficit to 3-2 in 2014. He also added a pair of assists that season.
"Dillon came to Centenary with an impressive goal-scoring mentality and has really developed as an all-around player," explained Symczak. "My fondest memory of Dillon was when he scored a beautiful goal against Trinity who was ranked in the top 5 at the time. I still have that as one of the best goals I have seen since my time here at Centenary. Dillon has a real passion for the game and I have enjoyed watching him become more successful in the classroom. I wish him the best of luck as he moves on to the next stage of his life.
This season, Rogers crossed the ball to sophomore Matthew Young for a tap-in goal earlier this month at Louisiana College for his third collegiate assist.
A 2014 SCAC Academic Honor Roll honoree, Rogers majors in economics at Centenary. Following graduation, Rogers plans to work for the Dick's Sporting Goods management team before eventually owning his own conglomerate investment firm.
Rogers favorite memory with Gents Soccer is "The privilege I have had to get to know each and every guy that I have been teammates with and making lifelong bonds that I will cherish forever."
