SHREVEPORT, La. – Facing a 1-0 deficit at half, the Gents forced the action in the second half and picked up a trio of goals as Centenary (2-12-2) recorded a 3-1 win on Senior Day against the Mississippi University for Women (3-9-1) Saturday afternoon, October 13.

Down 1-0 at intermission, the Gents picked up the equalizer quickly. In the 54th minute, junior Gabe Rodriguez was right of the goal and centered a pass. The pass found the foot of sophomore Gin Pau, who kicked in his team-leading fifth goal of the season to tie the contest.

However, Rodriguez wanted a goal of his own. In the 68th minute, senior Andre Anasi found Rodriguez for his first goal of 2018. The score proved to be the game-winning goal, the first of his career.

For a little insurance, sophomore Matthew Young was in the right place at the right time for the shorthanded goal. In the defensive third, sophomore Greg Petreas tried to clear a ball that deflected high off the Owls' player to midfield. Young took the ball and beat the keeper 1v1 in the 87th minute for his third goal of the season.

Centenary finished the game outshooting the Owls 18-15. Freshman goalie Sami Borchalli stopped 9-of-10 shots faced. Mississippi University for Women's goalie John McGee stopped 5-of-8 shots faced.

The Owls scored their only goal in the first half. Kyle Rodriguez took a free kick near midfield and placed the ball in the box to Jacob Thomas. Thomas headed the ball to Andrew Bernard in the 42nd minute, who scored his third goal of the season.

Senior Dillon Rogers, in his final game of his collegiate career on the Mayo Field pitch, led Centenary with three shots on target. Rodriguez added six shots, three of which were on target. Josh Martin led the Owls with all three shots on goal.

Centenary returns to action Tuesday, October 16, when it takes on Dallas in Irving, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
