TEXARKANA, Texas – Centenary Softball (0-5) dropped a pair of Games at Texas A&M Texarkana (4-2) 11-4 in game one and 8-2 in game two on Saturday afternoon, February 16.

In game one, Centenary struck first in the top of the first. With two outs and no one on base, senior Marguex Smith walked and advanced to second on a passed ball. She scored on senior Wendy Gillet's RBI single.

After the Eagles scored a pair in the bottom of the second, Centenary tied the game with a single tally in the top of the third. Smith led off the frame with a single, moved to third after a stolen base and wild pitch, and scored on a single by sophomore Erin Lewis.

Gillet and Lewis both led Centenary by going 2-for-4 from the plate.

Texas A&M Texarkana scored three in the third and five in the fourth to blow open the game. After a leadoff single, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI single by Lauren Biewrschenk put the Eagles in the lead for good. Baylee Taylor was later hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Kalee King singled with the bases loaded, but the Ladies were able to throw a player out at the plate.

In the bottom of the fourth, Morgan Bullock hit an RBI single while Jewels Caro and King both hit RBI doubles with Caro driving in two.

Caro led the Eagles with a hit in all three at-bats with two runs scored and two RBIs. King also went 3-for-3 and had three RBIs.

Centenary scored a pair of unearned runs in the fourth. With two on and no outs, a dropped fly ball loaded the bases. An RBI groundout by junior Haley Campbell scored the first run, and another Gillet two-out hit scored the second run of the inning.

Cassie Vasquez (2-1) picked up the complete-game win for the Eagles, allowing seven hits and four runs (two earned). Senior Amberlee Nix (0-2) picked up the loss for Centenary, allowing 11 hits and seven runs (six earned).

In game two down 6-0, junior Ashley Albright pinch hit and added a two-out, two-RBI single to put Centenary on the board. The home team scored seven of its runs on home runs, thanks to a three- and two-run home run by King, while Hannah Cooper added a solo shot.
