LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - On Wednesday, June 19, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference offices announced that 51 Ladies and Gents student-athletes were named to the conference's Spring Honor Roll following the 2019 spring semester. The number represents an increase of 16 spring student-athletes from the 2018 spring semester.

In addition, every member of the Ladies Golf team appeared on the SCAC Honor Roll list.

To be named a Spring SCAC Scholar Athlete, members of the Ladies and Gents golf and tennis teams, as well as softball and baseball, needed to achieve at least a 3.25 GPA in the spring 2019 semester.

Two Centenary student-athletes are making their second appearance on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2018-19 academic year. Senior Ladies tennis player Shyann Pisano was named to the Fall Honor Roll as a Ladies Volleyball player following the fall 2018 semester, while freshman men's tennis player Miguel Vasquez was named to the Winter Honor Roll as a Gents swimmer on Monday.

Senior Gents golfer Edvard Granrud appeared on the list for all four seasons of his Centenary athletic career. Eleven Ladies and Gents made their third appearance on the SCAC Honor Roll: seniors Charlie Allbritton and Kyle Barron and juniors Pierre Bida and Bryce Kozeny from baseball; juniors Reed Balcerowicz and Taylor Wells from Gents Golf; junior Erin Rostro from Ladies Golf; seniors Wendy Gillet and Kaitlyn Prince from softball; and Pisano from Ladies Tennis and senior Shannon Orlopp from Ladies Golf (two recognitions for both players came after a past volleyball season and after the 2018 fall semester).

Eleven student-athletes appeared on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll list for the second time in their career. Representing baseball is senior Cameron Guin, junior Cullen Sharkey, and sophomores Joshua Gatewood and Anthony Jaure; from softball are seniors Sydney Hurley and Amberlee Nix (both transferred into Centenary as juniors), juniors Haley Campbell and Maddie Fremen, and sophomore Becca McGough; and from Gents tennis is sophomore Corey Nobles and Vasquez.

A total of 28 Ladies and Gents received Academic All-Conference recognition for the first time.

Six Ladies and Gents received both academic and athletic All-Conference accolades. Softball had five such honorees. Hurley received First Team All-Conference accolades, while Gillet and Campbell were named Second Team. Senior Cassie Gonzales and Nix received Honorable Mention recognition. Junior Cody Crowder from Gents baseball was First Team All-Conference on the diamond.

In all, Centenary athletes were recognized Academic All-Conference 109 times for the 2018-19 academic year. That is a 19 percent increase from the 2017-18 academic year, when Centenary student-athletes appeared on a conference Academic Honor Roll 91 times.
