Ladies Split DH To Open SCAC Play
The Centenary softball team earned a doubleheader split with the University of St. Thomas Celts, winning game one 2-1 and falling 9-0 in six innings in game two as the teams opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday at the Centenary Softball Complex.

Shreveport- The Centenary softball team earned a doubleheader split with the University of St. Thomas Celts, winning game one 2-1 and falling 9-0 in six innings in game two as the teams opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday at the Centenary Softball Complex.
The Ladies (5-11, 1-1 SCAC) and Celts (13-6, 1-1 SCAC) will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday at Noon. Live stats and live video will be available for the game at the links below:

Game one recap: Centenary 2 St. Thomas 1
Sophomore P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) tossed a complete game, her team-leading fourth of the season, in game one to improve to 3-3 on the season. She allowed just one earned run on five hits in her seven innings of work. She did not walk a batter and struck out a pair as she faced 25 batters and threw 77 pitches, 49 for strikes.
Bailey Tisdale (6-2) also went the distance and suffered the loss but pitched well as she allowed just a pair of earned runs on seven hits with no walks and seven K's. She faced 23 batters and threw 73 pitches (55 strikes).
The Ladies finished with seven hits, only left two on base, and played error-free ball. The Celts had five hits, left three on base, struck out three times, and committed one error.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when freshman 2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) delivered a clutch, two-out RBI single to score junior RF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) for a 1-0 lead. Sophomore DP Kaitlyn Dickey (Church Point, La.) had an RBI single in the fourth to make it 2-0. Scarbrock allowed a solo home run to pinch hitter Mallorie Munson to lead off the seventh, but easily retired the next three batters to seal the one-run win.
Senior LF Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) went 2-3, Stokes was 1-3 with an RBI, Cox was 0-3 but scored a run and stole a base, and Dickey finished 1-2 with an RBI. Sophomore 3B Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) finished 1-3 with a run scored, freshman C Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) was 1-2 with a double, and junior 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) went 1-2.
The Celts were led by 1B Chloe Bennett who went 2-3 with two doubles. Munson, with her pinch-hit homer, and C Adelyn Becerra and CF Delayne Moreno were the only others to record hits.

The Celts jumped ahead 3-0 after their first at-bat and added six runs over the final three innings to cruise to the shutout win and earn a split of the DH.
St. Thomas finished with 10 hits, drew one walk, only struck out twice, and left five on base while committing one error. Centenary was held to four hits, left five on base, walked once, struck out twice, and made three errors.
Allison Hughes (6-3) went the distance and picked up the win for the Celts as she allowed just four hits with a walk and two strikeouts. She faced 23 batters and threw 82 pitches – 54 for strikes and hit one batter. Freshman Abigail Hodgson (Georgetown, Texas) started for the Ladies and took the loss as she allowed four runs, all earned, on seven hits in 4.2 IP with no walks and two K's.
Freshman Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) relieved her and went the final 1.1 innings and allowed five runs, three earned, on three hits with a walk and no K's and allowed two home runs. She threw 33 pitches (21) strikes and faced 10 batters, hitting one. The Ladies hit three batters in game two as Hodgson hit a pair. Stokes had two of the Ladies' four hits, Cox and Patridge each had one and Thrasher drew Centenary's only walk.
