Ladies Basketball Tabbed Seventh in SCAC Preseason Poll

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – In a vote by the conference head coaches and released by the conference offices, the Centenary Ladies basketball team is selected to finish seventh. They received 21 points.

Trinity, who has won the SCAC Tournament Championship each of the last three seasons, received four first place votes and was picked to win the SCAC over Austin College by a single point. However, the 'Roos received the other five first place votes.

The Ladies, under the direction of first year head coach Jason Schmitz, return more than 79 percent of a team that made for the SCAC Tournament for the first time with non-automatic qualification. Senior Jasmine Morris, a Third Team All-Conference selection last season, led the team with 10.9 points per game in 2017-18. Last season, Morris became the fastest Ladies Basketball player to score her 1,000th career point, achieving this feat in only her 68th career game.

Also returning is senior Savanah Doty, who was named an SCAC Honorable Mention honoree. Doty broke the overall school record for three pointers in a season in 2017-18 with 63.  She holds the top three spots for three-pointers in a season for the Ladies in the NCAA Division III era. Last season, she finished second on the team with 9.8 points per game.

Sophomore Bre Frierson was also named Honorable Mention All-Conference for 2017-18 after finishing third on the team with 7.8 points per game.

Southwestern, Colorado College, Texas Lutheran, and Schreiner were all selected to finish 3-6 in the SCAC. After the Ladies, Johnson & Wales and Dallas round out the voting.
