Ladies Basketball Falls to New Orleans in Exhibition

NEW ORLEANS – Centenary fell to New Orleans (1-0) 104-42 in an exhibition game for the Ladies Tuesday night, November 6.

It was the season opener for New Orleans.

Freshman Priya Ponia, who came off the bench to lead the team with 10 points, made both three-pointers shot in the fourth quarter. Senior Jasmine Morris contributed six points, while sophomore Darelzray Bellard added six points in the fourth quarter.

New Orleans scored the first four points of the game until sophomore Ethany Cosby made a three-point shot. New Orleans answered with seven unanswered, starting with a three from Traya Bruce. Whitley Larry made a pair of jumpers before a three from Ponia stopped the run.

Centenary trailed 14-8 before 12 unanswered by New Orleans pushed its lead to double digits for good.

Jada Duncantell led New Orleans with 18 points, while Bruce added the double-double with 10 points and 11 assists.

Centenary opens up the regular season Saturday afternoon, November 10, when it hosts Hardin-Simmons for Homecoming. Tip time is set for 1 p.m.
