Ladies Basketball Falls at Millsaps, 61-47

JACKSON, Miss. – Centenary (0-6) fell on the road to Millsaps (4-3) 61-47 Tuesday night, November 27.

The Ladies trailed by 21 early in the fourth quarter before a 12-0 run brought the deficit to single digits. Sophomore Haylee Washington made a layup and after a Millsaps offensive foul, senior Jasmine Morris hit a jumper. After another Majors turnover, Washington made a layup. Senior Savanah Doty hit a jumper and grabbed a steal and added the fastbreak hoop. Sophomore Darelzray Bellard made a pair of free throws, cutting the deficit to single digits for the first time since the second quarter.

Doty led the Ladies with 13 points.

After a back and forth contest in the opening minutes, the Majors scored 11 unanswered to open up a double-digit lead. A jumper and a three by Morgan McCrea put the home team up 10-4. Millecent Butler hit a pair of free throws and Kasi Matthews made a jumper. A Matthews layup extended the Millsaps lead to 16-4 with 3:32 left in the first quarter.

Millsaps never led by less than seven the rest of the game and was ahead by as much as 25 in the third quarter.

McCrea paced the home team with 13 points.

Centenary returns to action Sunday, December 2, when it hosts Southeastern Baptist. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
