Ladies Basketball Falls to Trinity

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary (3-7, 1-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Trinity (6-3, 1-1 SCAC) 77-44 Wednesday night, December 19.

Down 75-34 with four minutes left, Centenary finished on a 12-2 run to outscore Trinity in the fourth quarter. Freshman Priya Ponia hit a three before sophomore Darelzray Bellard made a pair from the line. Trinity answered with a layup, but Bellard made two more from the line. Junior Deunya Small capped the game with an old-fashioned three pointer as Centenary outscored Trinity 13-11 in the fourth.

Ponia finished with a game-high 13 points, including a 3-for-5 mark from beyond the arc.

Trinity led 13-7 before an 8-2 run to end the first gave the Tigers a double-digit lead. Annie Wise made a pair from the line and Rachel Chavez made a jumper. After Small made a layup, Muller hit a jumper before a Sam Henry fastbreak layup ended the quarter.

Abby Holland scored 14 points, while Hailey Coleman added 10. Trinity tallied 14 blocks for the game – four by Muller and three each for Coleman and Jordan Rudd.

Centenary returns to action December 29 against Southwestern. Tip is set for 4 p.m.
