SEGUIN, Texas – The Ladies scored the first six points of the game, but the Bulldogs rallied to lead after one and never looked back as Centenary (8-17, 6-10 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Texas Lutheran (16-9, 12-4 SCAC) 68-55 to end the Ladies' season Sunday afternoon, February 17.
Both teams remained scoreless for the contest's first two minutes until senior Jasmine Morris completed an old-fashioned three-point play. Sophomore Haylee Washington hit a layup and classmate Bre Frierson split from the line.
Centenary closed the game on a 10-2 run. Sophomore Ethany Cosby hit a three before Texas Lutheran answered with a jumper. Senior Savanah Doty hit back-to-back threes and Morris split from the line.
Doty and Morris played their final games in a Ladies' uniform, finishing with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Frierson came off the bench for 11.
A 14-1 run ending the first and beginning the second quarter gave Texas Lutheran a double-digit lead for good. A layup by Kasey Hairell with about a minute left in the first gave the Bulldogs its first lead of the game. Hairell added a free throw and Morgan Rodriguez hit a three to begin the second. Hairell hit a pair from the line and Bryanna Delgado hit a three to give Texas Lutheran a double-digit lead. Centenary split from the line, but Tara Molina answered with a three for the Bulldogs.
Jenesis Navarro and Hairell came off the bench for 13 and 11 points, respectively. Molina added 10.
This was the final game for two record-breaking seniors, Jasmine Morris and Savanah Doty. Morris finished her career with 1,345 points, the second-most in program history. Last year, she became the fastest player in Ladies Basketball history to 1,000 points. She also ended her career with a program-best 530 free throws made – the third most in SCAC history. Doty became the first Ladies Basketball player to finish her career with more than 200 three-pointers made, completing her career with 204 – the 10th-highest number made in SCAC history.
