Paul Reed enters his second season as interim head coach and is in his fifth year overall with the Centenary basketball programs after three years as an assistant with the men’s program.

Reed, a native of Loreauville, La., is a graduate of Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, La. and Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University).

The Ladies finished 3-22 overall and 3-13 in SCAC play in 2022-23. Despite the Ladies' struggles this past season, they landed three players on the all-conference team - Freshman G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.), sophomore G Dymon Drumgo (Alexandria, La.), and sophomore G Alana Jones (Shreveport, La.).

The three All-SCAC selections are the most in six seasons and the Ladies were once again a stingy defensive team as they held 12 of their 25 opponents to 70 points or less in a game this season and six to 65 or fewer.

Barrow, who earned Honorable-Mention distinction, was one of the top rookies in the conference as she averaged 7.9 PPG and reached double figures eight times. She shot 40.7 % from the floor and also averaged 3.8 rebounds/game, 1.8 assists/game and 1.3 steals/game.

Drumgo was the Ladies' top scorer, averaging 9.1 PPG and reached double figures 12 times and did so in seven of her last eight games. She also ranked third on the team in rebounding (4.7/game). Jones reached double figures eight times during the season and was second on the team in scoring (8.6 PPG) and was the leading rebounder (8.2/game). She recorded four double-doubles during the season and posted nine games with 10+ rebounds. She grabbed a career-high 21 boards in a 102-101 loss to Birmingham-Southern which are the fourth-most in a single game in program history.

The 101 points are the most that the Ladies have ever scored in a loss, as the previous program record was 86 against Stephen F. Austin on Dec. 17, 2005. The 203 combined points also broke the previous record of 181 done twice before and most recently in that 95-86 loss to SFA in 2005.

Reed spent 10 years (2008-18) at Loreauville High School where he was head boys’ basketball coach, an assistant coach for both the track team and junior high football team, taught Art and P.E. and served as assistant athletic director. His basketball team reached the playoffs six times and one of his players earned a college scholarship for the first time since 1985.

Prior to his time at Loreauville High, he taught and coached at West St. Mary HS, Berwick Junior HS, Loreauville Elementary, and J.B. Maitland Elementary.

Reed is a member of the Louisiana Association of Educators, National Education Association, Louisiana High School Basketball Coaches Association, Louisiana High School Athletic Association, and the Iberia Parish Art Council.
