Balcerowicz Finishes Second the Lead Centenary Golf at Hal Sutton Invite

BOSSIER CITY, La. – Junior Reed Balcerowicz led the tournament with seven birdies on the week and finished in second, one back from the leader, to lead Centenary Golf on the final day of the Hal Sutton Invitational Tuesday afternoon, March 19.

The Gents as a team finished fifth (648, +72), just two strokes behind fourth-place Pomona-Pitzer. East Texas Baptist claimed the championship on the men's side with a 617 (+41). The Ladies finished the tournament seventh (805, +229). UT-Dallas won the women's tournament with a two-round total of 670 (+94).

Balcerowicz fired a 76 (+3), the second-best round of the day, and finished with a 149 (+5) total. Tied with Darryl Fulgham on Tyler Junior College after round one, Fulgham turned in a 75 (+2) to claim the individual championship by a single stroke.

Junior Brodey Warner also turned in a top-10 finish for the Gents, shooting a 79 (+7) for the day and finishing the tournament with a 156 (+12) total. Sophomore Harrison John and junior Gabe Rodrigues finished the tournament with a 165 (+21) and tied for 25th.  Junior Donald Frazier and freshman Ryan Harris both turned in a 167 (+23) total to finish in a tie for 34th, while junior Taylor Wells ended the tournament 50th with a 181 (+37) total.

Rounding out the field, senior Trey Llorence finished with a 200 total and in 55th.

Junior Erin Rostro shot the lowest round among Ladies Golfers' for the second-straight day, carding a 93 (+21) and finishing 12th with a 176 total. Senior Shannon Orlopp turned in a 192 (+48) total to finish tied for 23rd. Freshman Abigail Hayes improved six strokes for round two and finished with a 204 (+60) to finish tied for 30th. Finally, junior Krysten Peacock bested her first round score by 13 strokes and finished with a 233 (+35) total.

Summer Swift of Texas Lutheran claimed the individual women's championship, improving eight strokes on day two and recording a score of 160 (+16).

The Gents return to action this Saturday, March 23, for a dual against MacMurray at the Huntington Park Golf Club. Meanwhile, the Ladies conclude the regular season at the Corban Spring Invitational in Salem, Oregon, April 8-9.
