Ladies Soccer Falls at Southwestern, 4-0

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Ladies surrendered an early goal and then two midway through the first half as Centenary (6-2, 4-2 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Southwestern (4-2, 2-0 SCAC) 4-0 Friday night, September 21.

Centenary freshman Itzel Sigaran put a shot on target that was saved early in the fourth minute, but Southwestern quickly reversed the field and caught sophomore goalie Maggie Pitcher away from the goal as Hallie Rutherford scored to put the home team on the board.

The Pirates scored a goal in the 22nd and 23rd minutes, the latter coming on a penalty kick.

Pitcher and freshman Avery Sanderson split time in goal as the defense for the Ladies recorded the only save. Mary Cardone for Southwestern grabbed all four shots faced.

Centenary closes out the four-game road trip Sunday, September 23, when it takes on Texas Lutheran. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
