Ladies Soccer Strikes First, but #17 Trinity Rallies for 3-1 Win

SHREVEPORT, La. – Junior Betzabet Bravo scored in the opening minutes for the Ladies, the first goal off the Tigers in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this season, but the Tigers scored a pair in the first half and an insurance goal in the second as Centenary (8-5, 5-5 SCAC) lost to #17 Trinity (10-1-1, 9-0 SCAC) 3-1 Sunday afternoon, October 7.

Centenary, who was the only conference team to score on Trinity in 2017, is the only SCAC team to net a goal on the Tigers since the 2016 season.

In the eighth minute, junior Kyra Montes centered a pass just left of the goal. Bravo finished for her second goal of the season. Trinity tied the game 10 minutes later when a through ball by Alex Walsh found Chelsea Cole for her 13th goal of the season.

Kristen Canepa scored a penalty kick goal right before half to give the visitors the lead. Halleanne Dure cleaned up Walsh's blocked shot in the 48th minute.

Freshman goalie Avery Sanderson grabbed four saves in seven shots faced, while Paige Wallace made a save on two shots faced in 78:10 played.

Centenary takes on LeTourneau for a non-conference battle Tuesday night, October 9, in Longview, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
