Centenary Women's Soccer Team Remains Undefeated with Win in Home Opener

Shreveport, La. -- The Centenary women's soccer team remained undefeated with a 2-1 victory over the LeTourneau YellowJackets on Tuesday evening at Mayo Field in its home opener.

The Ladies (4-0) received two second-half goals to erase a 1-0 halftime deficit and earn the win in front of a large, spirited crowd on its home field. 

LeTourneau's Jennifer Martin opened the scoring with a goal at the 12:11 mark of the first half to give the YellowJackets (1-2) a 1-0 lead which they would hold at the intermission. 

Centenary senior midfielder Emilee Byrd, a Shreveport native and Caddo Magnet product, tied the match at 1-1 with a goal in the 66th minute. Fellow senior Kyra Montes, also a hometown product from Byrd High School, gave the Ladies the lead in the 82nd minute off the assist from Kat Martinez

Both goalkeepers, LeTourneau's Kiersten Reeser and Karlie Delhommer of the Ladies, collected three saves a piece in the match and Centenary held a 20-8 advantage in shots. 

The Ladies head back on the road following Tuesday's match as they travel to Denver to face Johnson and Wales for a Noon match (11 a.m. mountain time) on Sunday, Sept. 15. #CTheOpportunity
