Women's Soccer Looks to remain undefeated versus Hendrix at home

Shreveport, La. - The Centenary women's soccer team looks to remain undefeated this season as the Ladies welcome the Hendrix Warriors to town for a non-conference match Tuesday set for 5 p.m. at Mayo Field.

The Ladies, off to a 5-0 start for the second straight season, sit atop the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference standings, just ahead of Southwestern and Texas Lutheran are are currently the only remaining undefeated SCAC team. Centenary was picked to finish fourth in the SCAC in preseason voting by the league's head coaches. 

Tuesday's match is the first for the Ladies since a 4-1 road victory over Johnson and Wales as the Maroon and White's match scheduled for last Friday against St. Thomas in Houston was postponed due to weather and no makeup date has been announced yet. The Ladies are 1-0 at home this season and 4-0 on the road. Centenary edged LeTourneau, 2-1, back on Sept. 10 in its home opener. The Ladies have outscored the opposition, 15-6, this season and six different players have scored a goal showcasing the strong and deep offense that the team features. 

Senior forward Kyra Montes, a Shreveport native, was an All-SCAC first team selection a year ago after scoring a leagu-leading 14 goals. In just three games this season, Montes has three goals and added two assists as well as two-game winning goals. Fellow senior Migui Boldrin (Ribeiaro, Brazil) has scored a team-leading five goals this season and an assist. FReshmam forward Sydney Bascomb (Mesquite, Texas) leads the Ladies with five assists. 

Hendrix enter's Tuesday's match at 3-2-4 overall after the University of the Ozarks, 2-2, on Sunday in a road contest. The Warriors have either won or tied their last five matches this season. The two teams did not meet last season but met every year from 2012-17. 

The Ladies begin a four-game homestand Tuesday and will play five of their next seven in the confines of Mayo Field. Centenary opens SCAC play on Friday, Oct. 4 versus Johnson and Wales.
