Ladies Fall 3-0 At Home To Southwestern On Senior Night

Shreveport - The Centenary women's soccer team was blanked 3-0 by the Southwestern University Pirates in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday night at Atkins Field.

The Ladies (3-10-2, 1-6-0 SCAC) honored two seniors prior to the match- F Mary Large (Broussard, La.) and D/MF Kaitlyn Bordelon (Shreveport, La.) in their final home match of the season. The Pirates (8-5-1, 6-1 SCAC) won their third match in a row and improved to 3-5-1 on the road.

The teams battled to a scoreless score for 40+ minutes in the first half until the Pirates' Lindsey Gomez scored at the 42:55 mark, assisted by Devin Cybulski for a 1-0 lead. Kayla Moody then converted a penalty kick in the 77^th minute to make it 2-0. Gomez scored again in the 82^nd minute to make it 3-0.

Sophomore GK/MF Zoe Keller (Waggaman, La.) started in the net for the Ladies and played all 90 minutes, tallying 12 saves. Erin York started in goal for the Pirates and played the first 76:41 and made two saves before being replaced by Kalista Esquivel-Serna, who played the final 13:59 and did not make a save.

Southwestern finished with a 29-5 advantage in shots and 6-0 in corner kicks. The Ladies were whistled for eight fouls and the Pirates were called for six.

The Ladies will play their final three matches of the regular season on the road, beginning on Sunday at Texas Lutheran and then at Schreiner University (Nov. 1) and finally at Trinity University on Nov. 3.
