Brad Langford begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Centenary men’s and women’s swimming program for the 2019-20 season. Langford comes to Centenary from the Hillsborough Aquatic Club in Hillsborough, NC where he coached last season. Prior to Hillsborough, Langford coached for three and half years for the North Carolina Aquatic Club. While at NCAC he coached swimmers to North Carolina High School State Championships, Futures, and USA Swimming Jr. Nationals. Outside of his coaching responsibilities on the deck for NCAC, Langford had the opportunity to spend time at The United State Olympic Training Center where he attended the Diversity Camp and traveled to Tempe, Ariz. where he coached at the US Open Water National Championships. He also had been a coach at University of North Carolina swim camps from 2015-18. Prior to moving to North Carolina, he coached for M.E. Lyons YMCA in Cincinnati where he coached multiple qualifiers to YMCA Summer and Winter Nationals. Along with coaching at M.E Lyons, he coached for William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio and helped coach the girl’s team to a Top three finish at the Ohio High School State Championship two years in a row. He also coached multiple state qualifiers and state champions on both the boys’ and girls’ teams during his time at Mason.

Langford grew up in Mason, Ohio and swam for the Cincinnati Marlins as well as a season for Mason Manta Rays in Mason. While competing for Mason High School, he was a multiple school record holder and three- time All-American. He then swam four years for the University of Cincinnati and during his time as a Bearcat, he was a four-year Lettermen recipient.

“I am very excited to have Brad come aboard the swim program,” said head coach Butch Jordan.  “He is a very enthusiastic coach that will bring a bunch of energy to the deck.  He has a great background in swimming both as a competitor and as a coach and I really like that he has been involved in several different styles of coaching over the course of his competitive and coaching career.  He will bring some fresh new ideas to our program.
