SHREVEPORT, La. – Senior Shyann Pisano recorded her first double-double of her career with 10 kills and career bests with 14 digs and six aces, while classmate Michaela Brantley went 12-for-22 with no errors (.545) as Centenary (9-11) knocked off Jarvis Christian (8-11) 25-21, 25-14, 23-25, 25-19 Wednesday night, October 3.

The Ladies led two sets to one, but trailed 15-13 in the fourth before big service runs by Pisano and senior Hailey Lawson ended the match. Down two, a Bulldogs error put the Ladies on serve. Two kills from freshman Lauren Kelley and a pair of aces by Pisano forced a Jarvis Christian timeout. With the Ladies up 20-19, a Brantley kill allowed Lawson to sub in and go to the service line. Kills from Pisano and senior Makenzie Shaw, followed by a Jarvis Christian error, put Centenary on match point.

Lawson finished the match in style with an ace. The Ladies matched a season high with 12 aces for the third time in 2018, as Lawson and freshman Alyssa Davis added three aces each.

Kelley added 13 kills and four players recorded double-digit digs. Besides Pisano, juniors Kristian Loving and Marissa Sandoval added 19 and 16 digs, respectively, while Lawson added 13. Sophomore Brittany Risner contributed 44 assists, a career high for the third match in a row.

Tied at five in set one, Centenary scored six straight to take control. Freshman Elizabeth Epley recorded a kill to bring Davis to the service line. All three of Davis' aces in the match, a Kelly kill, and a Jarvis Christian error forced a timeout with the Ladies up six.

In set two, Jarvis Christian held a slim 6-5 lead before 10 straight points by Centenary. Pisano put herself on serve with a kill, and the Ladies scored nine more points off her service run. Pisano added four aces, Epley added a pair of kills, Kelley hit a successful attack, and blocks by Kelley-Epley and Epley-Risner put Centenary up 10.

Risner, who had no blocks this season prior to the match, recorded a career high three blocks.

Jarvis Christian scored the final three points in set three to rally for a set win. With the Ladies up 23-22, Lauryn Johnson hit a kill to tie the match. A Tanikia Lacy kill and an assisted block by Heidi George and Madyson Ashby gave the Bulldogs the set.

Lacy led Jarvis Christian with 13 kills, while Ashby added the double-double with 40 assists and 18 digs. Jamesha Hutton contributed 33 digs.

Centenary looks to move to .500 when it completes its home stand Saturday afternoon, October 6, with a pair of matches against Mississippi University for Women. Match times are set for noon and 2 p.m.
