Ladies Volleyball Wins SCAC Team Sportsmanship Award

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Released Monday, December 10, Centenary received the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Team Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive season.

According to the conference web site, "The SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee instituted the award prior to the 2016-17 academic year in an effort to honor the team that best portrays good sportsmanship and fair play from the players and coaches during the season."

"This is such a meaningful honor for our program," said head coach Caroline Carlton. "Being named best Sportsmanship team for the SCAC is a mark that our team is headed in the right direction and representing Centenary the right way. I could not be more proud of the Ladies for this accomplishment and all their hard work."

Centenary Volleyball finished the 2018 season with an 18-18 overall record – only the third time in the program's 34-year history that the Ladies finished .500 or better. Centenary also finished tied for fourth in the conference with a 7-9 record. The seven SCAC wins is easily the most conference victories in program history. Individually, freshman Rachel Demerjian received Second Team All-Conference honors as well as one vote for SCAC Freshman of the Year.
