Freshman Gents Swimmer Miguel Vasquez grabbed Centenary Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this season on Monday, December 3.

Vasquez turned in a successful weekend at the third annual Hendrix Invite with event wins in both the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. The time of 52.00 in the 100 backstroke was the fourth fastest in school history and the best mark in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference this season. He also finished with runner-up honors in the 100 butterfly.

In the 200 medley relay, Vasquez swam the backstroke leg in 23.69, the best time in the SCAC this season and the second fastest in school history. The team of Vasquez, freshmen Mitchell Lulich and Tripp Montgomery, and senior Blake Smith finished third with a time of 1:39.99.

The Centenary Ladies and Gents Swimming teams both finished third of seven teams in the Hendrix Invite November 30-December 1 behind the host Warriors and Barton Community College. Centenary finished ahead of fellow SCAC-member The University of the Ozarks.

Centenary Ladies and Gents Swimming returns to action January 5, 2019, at the Austin College Invite.
