Competitive Dance Announces 2020 Recruiting Class

Shreveport- Centenary Head Competitive Cheer, Dance, and STUNT Coach Ellen Reid has announced her 2020 recruiting class.

The class includes four incoming student-athletes; two from Louisiana and two from Texas. Below is brief information and a quote from Reid on each student-athlete.

April Jones, Longview, Texas

"April brings great leadership skills to the Leading Ladies. She was a member of her high school dance team where she served as Captain for three straight years while also playing five other sports. She earned TAAPS First Team All-State and also danced senior year at Tena Vogel's prestigious studio of Longview."

Ashlee Shields, San Antonio, Texas

"Ashlee has a lot of passion for dance, and shows that in more ways than one. Besides dancing in high school on a team and in studio, she was also a member of theatre and choir where she participated and danced in the musicals. Ashlee's high school team won second place to a fun and energetic hip-hop."

Nyla Pierce, Ruston, La.

"Nyla is bringing a strong work ethic to this team. She was a part of the RHS Belles all four years of high school where she earned Most Improved her freshman year, Co-Captain her junior year, and the award for Best Dance Style this past year. Also this past year, she placed second with a beautiful lyrical duet at a MA Dance Competition."

Sarah Murphy, Shreveport

"Centenary is no stranger to Sarah as she attended C.E. Byrd High School right here in Shreveport. She has much experience under her belt, having danced for 13 years total, three of those years on the C.E. Byrd Highsteppers. During her summers, Sarah also took classes at Shreveport's Power and Grace School of Performing Arts, known for their tedious work on technique."
