Senior Navia Jordan Provides this Week's Gym Talk!

Hey there Centenary Gym Fans, it's your girl, Navi J, here with this week's gym talk! Last week was a whirlwind of gymnastics, class, and other fun festivities! As my fellow senior friend, Tavia Smith, mentioned we kicked off our week coming back from a blessed three-day weekend (shout out to Labor Day) and then turned around Tuesday morning for a beautiful "sunrise service" open gym. From there the Ladies resumed our typical busy schedules and were back in the classroom to soak up some knowledge.

On Wednesday, the Ladies filed in and out of the gym for some much needed flipping fun between the hours of ten and three. I know, I know, it seems like a REALLY long time to practice, but we all have different times because of our busy class schedules, so I promise we aren't in the gym for five consecutive hours. Shout out to sophomore, Jenny Jackson, for being the first vault flipper of the 2018-19 school year. You go Jen Jen! Also, big ups to senior, Tavia Smith, and freshman, Xian Seamon-Baumgartner, for some amazing bars! Y'all are some amazing bar swingers so keep up the incredible work! Fast forward to Thursday morning when we all decided it would be fun to jump right into our first pool work-out of the season! We absolutely love getting in the pool and swimming to our hearts content; there's nothing better than a morning swim! Overall, these past two weeks have really been a great deal of firsts!

Finally, Friday rolled around and the Ladies got to work at Centenary's annual Book Bazaar. Liz, Mack Pack, Nat, Spin, and I all worked the Book Bazaar on Friday and not only did we enjoy seeing the buzz of the event, but a lot of us ended up going home with loads of books! Talk about book worms! In addition to these Friday festivities, our three freshman (Kendall, Kendall, and Xian) and sophomore Jenny got to be ball girls for the Men's Soccer game. Go Gents! It's really nice to see the camaraderie between the various sports at Centenary.

After we all finished our varying events, the seniors cooked up a baked ziti dinner for the freshies! It was such a fun-filled bonding session. We watched the hilarious movie, Girls Trip, and made cute little bracelets for each other (shout out to the homie Kendall Knaps for making me an anklet)! I had so much fun with you girls! Then rounding up to Saturday morning, the Ladies met with Detective Heather Boucher for some much needed safety training. We talked about how to keep ourselves and each other safe, as well as learning some super cool defense techniques to back up our newfound knowledge. It was really quite the morning! After this, we all retired to our rooms for a little bit of down time and homework before heading to that evenings open gym. That evening, we all continued to get comfortable with the equipment and started throwing our harder skills. It was really an amazing open gym to witness as everyone was on their A game and doing incredible things! As the night came to a close, the Ladies took this same determination and drive and carried into Sunday's gym time; which I must say, was equally as amazing! Coach Jackie even brought her husband, Dan, which was great as he always comes ready with the pep talks and bear hugs!

All in all, this past week was fantabulous and I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us! Stay tuned for more as senior, MacKenzie Packer, will be detailing next week's adventures!
