Hey there Centenary Gym Fans! Senior Navia Jordan here with this week's Gym Talk! The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here as this week was the start to our competitive season. As fellow Senior, Tavia Smith, mentioned in the previous Gym Talk, we Ladies started out this week with an intrasquad in our beloved Centenary Gold Dome in front of our peers, faculty, and staff. It was such a great way to start out the 2018-19 season and boost our confidence going into our first meet of the year against University of Illinois-Chicago, Kent State University, and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Building up to our quad meet, the Ladies hit the ground running as we returned to class from our short-lived and much-loved winter break. We also pounded it out in the gym, working on hitting the routines we spent all fall preparing. We really wanted to go into this weekend trusting in each other and ourselves, confident in the clean routines we put up. I would definitely say we did just that! In our competition against UIC, Kent State University, and UW-Oshkosh, we Ladies gave it our all and I can most definitely say it is only up from here! I am so incredibly proud of my teammates! Shout out to sophomore Jenny Jackson for channeling our girl Spin this weekend and showing off a super fierce routine! It was complete with sky-high doubles and mind-boggling floor dance! I honestly, can't wait to see what the rest of season has in store for you! Shout out to junior Cami Bea Austin for competing some explosive vaults this weekend! I can't wait for the major upgrades Space Cowboy Cam! Also, shout out to all the freshies, Kendall Sanders, Kendall Knaps, and Xian Seamon-Baumgartner for really going out there and killing it at their collegiate debut! I feel like a proud mama! Special shout out to my girl Xi-Pie for exhibitioning a STUNNING bar routine! Girl, I cannot wait to see you and your beautiful lines in line up! Lastly, shout out to the whole beam squad for bringing the heat and mental toughness! Y'all are great and I cannot wait to see where we go from here!

Jenny Jackson earned our most recent Beat Award, in honor of alum Sylvia Keiter, this week.  Jenny has been battling an injury all fall and really stepped it up for this week's meet.  She definitely was a fighter out there and her performances exceeded everyone's expectations.

All in all, I am so proud of my Ladies for getting this season started! It's all up from here and I'm so excited to LEVEL UP, LEVEL UP, LEVEL UP!!! Stay tuned for more as your favorite Ladies will be competing this Saturday in the Gold Dome at 6 p.m. against University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire! We hope to see you there!

Much Love,

Navi J.
