  • Two Gents Named To 2019 All-SCAC Men’s Soccer Team
    November 07, 2019
    Two Gents, sophomores Wil Escobar and Sami Borchalli, were named to the 2019 All-SCAC Men’s Soccer Team, it was announced on Thursday after exclusive voting by the league’s head coaches. Escobar, a midfielder from Cypress, Texas, was named to the First Team while Borchalli, a goalkeeper from Lafayette, La., earned Honorable Mention honors. The two selections were Centenary’s first since the 2016 season and Escobar’s honor marked the first time that a Gent has been named to the first team.
  • Men's Soccer Falls, 3-1, To Southwestern In Regular Season Finale

    The Centenary men’s soccer team fell, 3-1, in its regular-season finale on Sunday to the Southwestern Pirates in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at Mayo Field. The Gents finish their season at 8-8 overall and 3-6 in SCAC play. Southwestern improved to 10-6-2 overall and 4-4-1 in SCAC play.
  • Men's Soccer Faces Texas Lutheran On Friday For Annual Senior Night

    The Centenary men's soccer team will face the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs on Friday in a crucial Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match set for 7 p.m. at Mayo Field. Friday is Senior Night for Centenary and Four Gents; Scott Halper (Franklin Lakes, N.J.), Rolando Hernandez (Arlington, Texas), Jeff Mallernee (Keller, Texas), and Gabe Rodriguez (Bossier City) will be honored in a special pregame ceremony. The Gents (8-6, 3-4 SCAC) are sixth in the conference standings but just a half game behind fifth-place Southwestern (3-3-1) and a half game ahead of Dallas (2-4-1). Centenary plays host to Southwestern on Sunday in its regular-season finale at 2 p.m.
  • Men's Soccer Falls, 6-1, To Texas Lutheran In SCAC Play

    The Centenary men's soccer team fell 6-1 to the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Friday night at a frigid Mayo Field. Four Gents; Scott Halper (Franklin Lakes, N.J.), Rolando Hernandez (Arlington, Texas), Jeff Mallernee (Keller, Texas), and Gabe Rodriguez (Bossier City) were honored in a special pregame Senior Night ceremony. The Gents (8-7, 3-5 SCAC) are currently sixth in the conference standings, just a half game behind fifth-place Southwestern (3-4-1) and a half game ahead of Dallas (2-5-1).
  • Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Heartbreaker in Double Overtime At Austin College
    October 27, 2019
    The Centenary men’s soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to the Austin College ‘Roos on Sunday, 1-0, in double overtime in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at the Pierce Complex. The Gents dropped to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in SCAC play while the ‘Roos improved to 4-10-1 and 1-5 SCAC. Centenary allowed one goal or less for the 10th time this season.
  • Men's Soccer Wins Thriller, 2-1, At Dallas In Crucial SCAC Match

    The Centenary men’s soccer team scored a pair of second-half goals as the Gents secured a comeback win over the University of Dallas Crusaders in a crucial Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Friday night at the University of Dallas soccer complex.  The Gents (8-5, 3-3 SCAC) won for the first time away from home this season and won their second-straight match after defeating Louisiana College, 6-3, on Monday at Mayo Field.
  • Men's Soccer To Face Dallas In Crucial SCAC Road Match On Friday
    October 24, 2019
    The Centenary men's soccer team will face the University of Dallas Crusaders on Friday in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match set for 7 p.m. at the University of Dallas soccer complex.  The Gents (7-5, 2-3 SCAC) defeated the Louisiana College Wildcats, 6-3, on Monday evening in a non-conference match at Mayo Field. Centenary won for the seventh time in eight home matches this season and have now outscored the opposition by a 21-6 margin in those eight matches. The Crusaders enter Friday’s action at 4-7-1 overall and 2-2-1 in SCAC play.
  • Men's Soccer Overpowers Louisiana College
    October 22, 2019
    The Centenary men’s soccer team doubled up the Louisiana College Wildcats, 6-3, on Monday evening in a non-conference match at Mayo Field. The Gents (7-5) won for the seventh time in eight home matches this season and have now outscored the opposition by a 21-6 margin in those eight matches. Louisiana College (1-13) a member of the American Southwest Conference, has now lost five straight matches after Monday’s loss.
  • Men's Soccer Welcomes Louisiana College To Town Monday

    The Centenary men’s soccer team welcomes the Louisiana College Wildcats to Mayo Field on Monday for a non-conference match set for 7 p.m. The Gents (6-5) dropped a 2-1 decision to St. Thomas on Friday at home in their last game, falling for the first time at Mayo Field this season. Centenary won its first six home matches this season. The Gents have outscored the opposition, 15-3, in seven home matches. St. Thomas is one of only two teams to score against the Maroon and White at home this season as they have posted five shutouts.

    The Centenary men's soccer team fell to St. Thomas, 2-1, on Friday night at Mayo Field in a Southern Collegiate Athletic contest. The Gents (6-5, 2-3 SCAC) lost their third-straight game while St. Thomas improved to 8-5 overall and 4-1 in SCAC play. Centenary lost for the first time this season at home after beginning the season 6-0 at Mayo Field. The Celts are also just the second team this season to score against the Maroon and White at home where the Gents have outscored the opposition 15-3 and posted five shutouts. 
  • Men's Soccer To Face St. Thomas At Home
    October 17, 2019
    The Centenary men’s soccer team returns home to face the St. Thomas Celts in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match set for 7 p.m. Friday at Mayo Field. The Gents (6-4, 2-2 SCAC) are 6-0 at home this season and have outscored the opposition 14-1 and have posted five shutouts, which leads the conference.
  • Men's Soccer Falls To Trinity, 2-0
    October 13, 2019
    The Centenary men’s soccer team fell to the Trinity Tigers, 2-0, on Sunday in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match. The Gents (6-4, 2-2 SCAC) fell behind 1-0 at halftime as Quentin Van Der Lee scored the first of his two goals for the Tigers (6-3-2, 2-1- SCAC) on a penalty kick just minutes before the end of the first half. Trinity outshot the Gents, 23-6, in the match.
  • Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Match at Schreiner
    October 12, 2019
    The Centenary men's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to the Schreiner Mountaineers on Friday in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road match at the Mountaineer Soccer Field. The Gents (6-3, 2-1 SCAC) had their five-game winning streak snapped while Schreiner improved to 3-8-1 and 1-1 in SCAC play.
  • Men's Soccer Takes Five-Game Winning Streak On The Road
    October 10, 2019
    The Centenary men's soccer team takes its five-game winning streak on the road this weekend for a pair of key Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches against Schreiner and Trinity. The Gents 6-2, 2-0 SCAC) will face the Schreiner Mountaineers (2-8-1, 0-1 SCAC) on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Mountaineer Soccer Field. Centenary then squares off with Trinity on Sunday in San Antonio at 2 p.m. The Gents are currently leading the SCAC, tied with Texas Lutheran as the only 2-0 teams in the SCAC.
  • Wil Escobar Named SCAC Offensive Player Of The Week

    Wil Escobar was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 6th. Escobar, a sophomore midfielder from Cypress, Texas, scored all four goals for the Gents in a pair of victories last weekend at home to open the SCAC schedule. Centenary defeated Johnson and Wales, 2-1, on Friday and Colorado College on Sunday by a score of 2-0.
  • Gents Win Fifth Straight And Remain Unbeaten In SCAC Play

    The Centenary men’s soccer team extended its winning streak to five games with a 2-0 victory over the Colorado College Tigers on Sunday in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at a steamy Mayo Field. The Gents (6-2, 2-0 SCAC) are one away from matching their longest winning streak when they won their final six matches of the 2011 season. The Tigers fell to 6-5 and 1-1 SCAC with the loss.
  • Men's Soccer Eyes Fifth-Straight Win On Sunday

    The Centenary men's soccer team goes for its fifth-straight victory on Sunday when the Gents face the Colorado College Tigers in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match set for Noon at Mayo Field.  The Gents (5-2, 1-0 SCAC) defeated Johnson and Wales on Friday night, 2-1, in the SCAC opener for both teams.
  • Men's Soccer Opens SCAC Play With 2-1 Win Over Johnson And Wales

    The Centenary men's soccer team edged the Johnson and Wales Wildcats, 2-1, in a thrilling match on Friday night at Mayo Field in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams. The Gents (5-2, 1-0 SCAC) received a pair of goals from sophomore Wil Escobar (Cypress, Texas) to claim the victory. Escobar tied the match in the 60th minute off the assist from freshman Jaden Harmon (Houston, Texas), and then gave the Maroon and White the lead and eventual win with a goal in the 81st minute off an assist from junior teammate Greg Petreas (Denton, Texas). 
  • Men's Soccer Opens SCAC Play At Home Versus Johnson and Wales

    The Centenary men's soccer team looks for its fourth-straight victory Friday as the Gents open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play against the Johnson and Wales Wildcats in a match set for 7 p.m. at Mayo Field. The Gents (4-2) have won three in a row, all shutouts, and 4-0 at home. Centenary defeated the University of Dallas and Austin College by identical 1-0 scores this past weekend after crushing Hendrix, 7-0, on Sept. 24. All four Centenary victories this season have been shutouts and the Gents have outscored the opposition 15-8 on the season.
  • Diego Hernandez Earns SCAC Defensive Player of Week Honor

    Centenary's Diego Hernandez has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday. Hernandez (Carrollton, Texas), a sophomore defender, led a Gents back line that posted three shutouts last week at home. He played 250 of the 270 minutes in wins over Hendrix, Austin College, and the University of Dallas.
  • Men's Soccer Posts Third Straight Shutout
    September 29, 2019
    The Centenary men’s soccer team continued its stellar play with another shutout on Sunday as the Gents blanked the University of Dallas Crusaders, 1-0, at Mayo Field. The Maroon and White improved to 4-2 on the season and won their third straight match, all shutouts. The Gents defeated Austin College, 1-0, on Friday after crushing Hendrix, 7-0, on Tuesday. All four Centenary victories this season have been shutouts and the Gents have outscored the opposition 15-8 on the season.
  • Men's Soccer Continues Homestand with Match Versus Austin College
    September 27, 2019
    The Centenary men's soccer team welcomes Austin College to town on Friday in a match set for 7 p.m. at Mayo Field.  The Gents (2-2) dominated Hendrix on Tuesday in a 7-0 victory at home, scoring the most goals in a game since the Maroon and White notched an astounding 17 in a shutout win over Wiley back in 2002. The most goals in a single game the Gents had scored recently was five in a match versus East Texas Baptist in 2014. 
  • Men's Soccer Blanks Austin College, 1-0, on Friday
    September 27, 2019
    The Centenary men's soccer team posted its second-straight shutout on Friday as the Gents blanked Austin College, 1-0, at Mayo Field. The Gents pitched their second-consecutive shutout and improved to 3-2 this season.
  • Men's Soccer Crushes Hendrix, 7-0, on Tuesday at Home
    September 25, 2019
    The Centenary men's soccer team cruised to a 7-0 victory over the Hendrix Warriors on Tuesday evening in a non-conference match at Mayo Field. The Gents (2-2) took control of the match with four-first half goals and scored the most goals in a game since the Maroon and White notched a whopping 17 in a shutout win over Wiley back in 2002. The most goals in a single game the Gents had scored recently was five in a match versus East Texas Baptist in 2014. 
  • Men's Soccer Welcomes Hendrix to Town for Tuesday Match
    September 23, 2019
    The Centenary men's soccer team will face the Hendrix Warriors on Tuesday in a non-conference match set for 7 p.m. at Mayo Field.  The Gents (1-2) dropped a tough match to Johnson and Wales by a score of 3-1 on the road back on Sept. 15 in their most recent match.
  • Centenary-St. Thomas Men's Soccer Match Postponed
    September 19, 2019
    The Centenary-St. Thomas men's soccer contest scheduled for Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. has been postponed due to inclement weather in the Houston area. A potential rescheduled date and time will be announced when it is known, provided the game is rescheduled.
  • Men's Soccer Drops Tough Match at Johnson and Wales Sunday

    The Centenary men's soccer team dropped a tough match by a score of 3-1 to the Johnson and Wales Wildcats on Sunday at the Aurora Sports Park that lasted nearly four hours. The Gents fell to 1-2 on the season with the loss. 
  • Men's Soccer Falls to Colorado College, 5-4, in Offensive Showdown on Road
    September 13, 2019
    The Centenary men's soccer team fell by a score of 5-4 on Friday evening to Colorado College in an offensive showdown at Washburn Field in its first road match of the season.  The Gents (1-1) were coming off a hard-fought victory over LeTourneau on Tuesday in their home opener. Colorado College improved to 3-2 on the season with the victory. 
  • Gents travel to Colorado for pair of weekend matches

    The Centenary men's soccer team will face Colorado College Friday at 7 p.m. mountain time (8 p.m. central) at Washburn Field in Colorado Springs.  The Gents (1-0) are coming off a hard-fought victory over LeTourneau on Tuesday in their home opener while the Tigers (2-2) dropped a 4-1 decision to host Ohio Wesleyan University last Saturday.
  • Centenary Men's Soccer Team Opens Season with 1-0 win
    September 11, 2019
    The Centenary men's soccer team opened its 2019 regular season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the LeTourneau YellowJackets on Tuesday evening at Mayo Field.  The Gents (1-0) played for the first time this season after their season opener at ETBU was cancelled by severe weather back on Aug. 30. Centenary had not seen any action since a 2-0 exhibition win over LSU-Alexandria at home last month.
