Cara Briggs is currently beginning her first season with Centenart as Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach and Aquatics Director for the 2018-19 season.

Briggs comes to Shreveport after serving as the assistant swim coach, aquatics director/pool coordinator, and game management supervisor at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. With the Cadets, she supported the head coaching in all aspects of the program, including recruiting.

In her only season at Norwich, she mentored the Cadet men to a win in the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships. The men’s and women’s teams combined to take nine individual and two relay conference titles. Michael Pierce broke the school record in the 1650 freestyle, while Elaine Dudley broke her own school record in the 100 IM.

At the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, she helped the men finish fourth of 12 teams and the women 14th of 20 teams. Dudley won both the 100 and 200 IM while new school records were set in both the men’s 800-freestyle relay and 200 butterfly.

Recently, Joseph Clark received GNAC Men’s Swimming Rookie of the Year honors.

As aquatics director and pool coordinator at Norwich, she oversaw daily operations of the natatorium, including developing and implementing programs.

Prior to her time in Vermont, she spent five years as the assistant men’s swimming coach at her alma mater, Munster High School in Munster, Indiana. She also spent one year as a school counseling intern for the Mustangs after receiving her Master of Arts degree in education and counseling from Purdue in 2015.

Briggs graduated from Wright State with a degree in communications and public relations in 2011. She swam for the Raiders from 2007-2011, competing in nine events during her collegiate career at the Horizon League Championships. Her best finish came her freshman season, when she claimed runner-up honors in the 1650 freestyle.
