Gents Knock Off Tougaloo, Fall to Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss. - After playing for the first time in a month, the Centenary Gents Tennis team (3-3) lost to Belhaven in the first match of the day, 6-1, but rebounded in the final contest of the day to beat Tougaloo, 5-1, in a pair of matches in Jackson, Mississippi.

At second singles, freshman Corey Nobles improved to 3-2 on the season with a pair of wins. After falling in the first set against the Blazers 5-7, he dominated his opponents. He won set two against Tracy Hilaire, 6-0, before taking the tiebreaker 10-4 to win the match.

Against Tougaloo, Centenary won 4-of-5 singles matches and the lone doubles match for the win. Freshman Louis Cossart cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles while freshman Kevin Le triumphed at third singles, 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Richard Legendre took a pair of 6-0 sets at fourth singles.

In the lone doubles match, Cossart and Legendre teamed up for an 8-3 win.

Centenary returns to action next Saturday, March 10, at Louisiana College. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
