MARSHALL, Texas – The Ladies led by as much as five early in the game, but a run at the beginning of the second quarter by the home team gave the Tigers the lead for good as Centenary (4-12) lost to #13 East Texas Baptist (13-2) 72-46 in the Ladies final regular season non-conference game Sunday afternoon, January 12.

Down 5-2 in the first quarter, senior Savanah Doty nailed a three to tie the game. After sophomore Bre Frierson split from the line, she made a layup to give Centenary the three-point lead with 5:24 remaining in the first quarter. East Texas Baptist responded with a bucket, but a split from the line and a freshman Priya Ponia three put Centenary up 12-7.

Senior Jasmine Morris led the Ladies with 11 points in the contest.

However, Centenary could not overcome 35 turnovers and the Tigers 39-9 edge in points off miscues for the game.

With the game tied at 18 earlier in the second, a 16-3 run gave the home team a double-digit lead for good. Anna Moss made a pair from the line to give the Tigers the lead. After a Centenary turnover, Sydney Saxton made a layup and Kendrick Clark hit a three. Hannah Hudson joined the three-point parade before Morris stopped the run with an old fashioned three. Erin Meeks made back-to-back layups before Tatyana Lacey made a fastbreak hoop off a steal by East Texas Baptist to push the lead to 13.

The Tigers finished the game with 23 steals.

Clark led East Texas Baptist with 18 points, including making 4-for-5 from three. As a team, the Tigers went 8-for-15 (53.3 percent) from distance.

Centenary steps back into Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action Friday night, January 18, when it takes on Austin College at the Gold Dome. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
