Centenary Women's Soccer Team Remains Perfect with 3-2 double over time win Saturday

Jackson, Miss. - The Centenary women's soccer team edged the host Belhaven Blazers by a score of 3-2 in double overtime on Saturday at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium as the Ladies won a pair of matches away from home to open its 2019 regular season. 

The Ladies (2-0) struck first in the match as senior midfielder Emilee Byrd scored in the sixth minutes off an asisst from junior Migui Boldrin. Senior Betzabet Bravo Carmona then found the net in the 11th minute for a 2-0 advantage. The Blazers cut the Ladies' lead in half when Ashley Langham scored just before intermission to make the score 2-1. 

Belhaven tied the game at 2-2 in the 77th minute and then it remained scoreless for the remainder of regulation and the first overtime period, despite both teams having chances to score. Finally, in the second overtime period, Boldrin scored the game winner in the 106th minute, her second goal of the season off the assist from Sydney Bascomb. Boldrin, a junior transfer in her first season at Centenary, also scored the Ladies' lone goal Friday against LaGrange in a 1-0 season-opening win. 

Centenary held a 13-8 advantage in shots for the match including eight shots on goal. The Ladies return to Jackson next week to square off with Millsaps on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. The Ladies open their home slate on Tuesday, Sept. 10 with a 5 p.m. match against LeTourneau at Mayo Field. #CTheOpportunity
