Women's Soccer Ranked 10th In West Region Of Latest Rankings

Shreveport - The Centenary women's soccer is one of only five remaining undefeated teams in Division III in the country and is ranked number 10 in the West Region in the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 NCAA Division III Poll.

The Ladies (9-0) opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play last Friday with a thrilling 1-0 overtime win over the Johnson and Wales Wildcats at home as The Maroon and White continued their best start in program history and remain tied atop the conference standings.

Centenary, which was receiving votes in last week's United Soccer Coaches poll, broke into the West Region rankings this week and is the only undefeated team remaining in the region and the only undefeated team overall in the SCAC.

Freshman midfielder Celeste Muinz (Denton, Texas) scored the game winner and notched her first-career goal in the 104 minute of the match on Friday. Freshman goalkeeper Karlie Delhommer (St. Amant, La.) pitched a shutout and made five saves and was named the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 6th.

Delhommer played all 104 minutes of Friday's overtime match and earned her ninth victory of the season and posted her third shutout. In her nine starts this season she has allowed one goal or less in seven of nine games and she ranks third in the SCAC in shutouts and goals against average.

The Ladies improved to 2-0 in overtime contests this season and 5-0 in matches decided by one goal. Centenary has a 24-8 advantage in goals scored this season against its competition and have allowed one goal or less in seven of their nine matches.

The Maroon and White hit the road for a pair of matches this weekend. The Ladies face Schreiner at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 in Kerrville, Texas and then square off with Trinity next Sunday, Oct. 13 at noon. #CTheOpportunity #GoCentenary.
